![]() This persisted for a week.ĭuring that week, it was so easy to trigger the start of spinning with my usual day-to-day actions. I was so nauseated at that point, and I still felt dizzy on the way home like I was not on steady ground. So after looking at my nystagmus, she did the Epley on my left ear. She then did the test again and on that fourth try, everything went spinning. She decided to do it a third time and I felt that jolt that told me it was about to start, but everything stayed normal. I still went to the ENT, and the doctor couldn't elicit vertigo on me after doing the Dix-Hallpike twice. So normal that I even thought of canceling my ENT appointment. I also slept a little bit higher that night. After my attack subsided, I continued doing things, but I kept my head and neck stiff, steady and upright. A different one because I'm now an expat. So I immediately scheduled a consultation with an ENT. The spinning stopped when I snapped back up my head and neck, and looked straight forward. I think I tilted my head a little to the left downwards. ![]() It was the same spinning I experienced in 2014. I had my first spinning vertigo attack in 6 years. But apart from these head position limits and random moments when I felt suddenly unsteady, I was "normal." I couldn't read while in a car, and felt highly unstable when watching swooping camera movements on medium to big screens. I also noticed I get motion sickness easier after getting BPPV. A handful of times I've felt suddenly unsteady when looking sideways too much, but no spinning attacks. I have built the awareness to never roll on my sides when sleeping. I've never turned to my left while lying down ever. I sometimes get close to lying on my right side, but only when I'm awake. I also have never slept on my sides ever. I always slept with 2 pillows or a wedge pillow. Closest was 1 pillow flat during massages. I can't remember if I had like traces of dizziness or something.īut since then, I have never tried lying down completely flat. Went to an ENT who did the Dix-Hallpike test and saw that it was my left ear that had the problem. I rolled to one side and was jolted awake with the world spinning. If you have the time to read my experience below with BPPV since 2014, could you say my first Epley in 2014 was successful? Or was it not successful since I couldn't lie down flat, roll to the sides, and enjoy those 4D immersive rides in theme parks without feeling unstable and getting dizzy? You can repeat this treatment one or more times.TL DR how normal were you guys a week after your successful Epley? Were you guys able to lie down flat? Roll to the sides? And enjoy those 4D immersive rides in theme parks? Then your head can be raised again and you remain seated until the dizziness has gone. Let your head hang slightly for about a minute. It is quite normal to feel dizzy for a short time. You may feel dizzy again.įinally, you will sit up straight from the side. This way you will lie down for another 30 seconds. You move your head until your nose points down. Then turn the head further to the side where you have no complaints. In this way, you will lie down again for 30 to 60 seconds. Then the doctor turns your head the other way. You will probably feel dizzy for the first 10 seconds. ![]() You will remain in this position for about 30 to 60 seconds. You lie on your back with your head turned slightly to the side where the symptoms occur the most. Then you move the body to a lying position. You turn your head slightly to the side where the complaints occur the most. ![]() ![]() With the pictures below we show you what the doctor does.
